Stuck on lilo
Hi all
Im on about my 3rd or 4th attemp to install gentoo now, each time have failed upto now.
I come down to the concluesion that my system does not like grub so i have installed lilo this time.
I have emerged lilo and written the lilo.conf file.
The manual then tells you to type /sbin/lilo so it can apply it to the sysytem, but when i type it in i get -
bash: /sbin/lilo: No such file or directory
I have not come this far to go wrong now, anyone have any ideas before i try for the reboot?
Cheers Martin

try just typing "lilo" if it fails then you did not install it or you are not running it as the root user.
to install it type "emerge -av lilo"
to become root type "su" and then the root password (if you are just booted into the live cd then you are allready root).Proud to be a GNU/Gentoo Linux user!

I was in the chrooted enviroment until i had had enough and emerged grub.
But for some reason it did not install properley!
I think what is best is to start the install once again, and try lilo again!
Any problems and i will post, cheers for the help!
Im sure i will need it again soon.

I am a newbee to linux. I have succeeded to install gentoo, but I followed someones tips on using the NT loader since I have XP installed. This resulted in a mess, and me not being able to boot gentoo...
I have a seperate /boot on sdb6
I have /swap on sdb7
I have / on sdb8
When I boot the livecd I cannot mount any directory on /sdb (with mount /dev/sdbx.x) or do cd /dev/sdbx.x
How can I boot my new installed gentoo!???? HEEEEEELP!
thnxz
