    kernal problem


    hi all ,i'm trying to install gentoo fot the first time but i'm stuck on choosing a kernal when i get to "emerge gentoo-sources" i keep getting "failed connection timed out" any ideas were i'm going wrong i don't think it's my connection as i updated the portage tree ok and i can ping web sites.

    Perhaps the ebuild is referencing a bad mirror? You might want to try using the mirrorselect command.

    Straight from the livecd, it won't work within the chrooted enviroment.

    Code:
    mirrorselect -a -s4 -o | grep 'GENTOO_MIRRORS=' >> /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.conf
