Yeah, it really is. I need to sort out some xorg.conf issues, but as long as I use the default option, everything runs well, except the mouse wheel. When I use mine, I get "no screens found", and I'll test it as soon as I'm done emerging mplayer.

As far as GNOME, I can't really say. I got about 120 of the packages or so emerged overnight (there were 172 to do), but I ended up having a problem with my cd-recorder, so I had to fix it before I could continue.
