it could have been a big boost for gentoo, if he had somehow gotten its control to ms...think about how secure, stable, and performing it would be to patent all of the ip from gentoos development and do away with all that gnu stuff.

well microsoft isnt actualy buying gentoo. remmeber that the guy transfered ownership of those thingy's to the gentoo foundation. so its not going to affect gentoo in anyway.however it is kind of a morality blow. but i still think microsoft is going to try and make money of of linux since they havent been able to destroy or buy us out yet.

daniel robbins has had nothing to do with gentoo for about a year now. he left the project a long time before this announcement. (i wonder if MS tryed to hire him before but he or they insisted on his having left gentoo for a year first...

All i can say is nothing good can come out of this. Just look at the history of M$'s business dealings & practices.
