The Gentoo cd's are for installing Gentoo. There is no GUI mode.

If you want a live cd, look for the Gentoo2005 Live CD, supports brand-new reiser4 :P

i belive there is away of installing through knoppix if you are scared of just a command line...

Yes, there is, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Makes things MUCH easier.
Also, if you have a wireless network, it is apparently the only way to do a Stage1 (I hear that Gentoo LiveCD doesn't support wireless).

Basically, you boot into Knoppix and do everything through a terminal there. You get a GUI, Internet, and Tux Racer / Gaim to pass the time. And ndiswrapper, which is a godsend for those with Linksys cards.DISTRO=Arch

recent live cds have wireless support

For doing an install from knoppix, you still need the command line.

Mine is the live cd.Its boots into the command prompt.

there is not GUI mode on the gentoo live cd's (yet, they are working on it for future releases) except for a few fizlewizzle cds

- 07-20-2005 #10I think i heard rumnors that the Reiser4 install/Live CD has GUI on it with XFCE/Fluxbox/couple of other WM's.
