Install only shows 2.4 Kernel! [SOLVED]

I'm following along the Gentoo handbook, and I got the part about profiles. I did the check to see what profile I was running, and got this:

    total 12
    drwxr-xr-x 2 4096 Jan 21 2005 2.4/
    -rw-r--r-- 1 679 Mar 28 22:35 packages
    -rw-r--r-- 1 343 Dec 3 2004 parent

What did I do wrong? I followed the directions for downloading the x86 stage and, as far as I can tell, haven't missed a step. I don't want to be stuck with an old kernal on a brand new compile.

I downloaded the stage1 from another server, and got the 2.6 kernel.
