libpng.so.3 and mplayer-opre7 problems
mplayer32: error while loading shared libraries: libpng.so.3: cannot open shared
now to start off, im running a 64 bit platform, with all the 64 bit trickouts. however, there is this obvious problem with a 32 bit browser and media player. so, i tried to get a 32bit media player and i used this site to do it.
when i try to run mplayer32 i get that message. just to note, befor i tried using the 64bit mplayer-opre7 fresh from the official gentoo tree but it too gave that error. i had to go back to opre6. this 32bit one is opre7, so that i believe is the problem.
libpng.so.3 exists in /usr/lib, /usr/lib64, and /usr/lib32. they are all symlinks to libpng.so.22.214.171.124 (the version number) and it to is in each of the said directories. everything has full read and execute permisions.
