I'm finally IN!!!
I have successfully installed Gentoo on my computer, finally, finally, finally. It was difficult because I was trying to dual boot with windows on the same raid 0 drive. It is software raid. IT CAN BE DONE! Now I want my bananas!

How long did it take to get thru the "emerge --emptytree system" stage of the install? i realize my laptop isn't top of the line (P4-M 1.5Ghz) but it's been going for several hours.

It takes quite a long while. In fact, it takes the better part of a full weekend for me to get Gentoo base and packages fully compiled on my P4, 3.0Ghz box from Stage 1.
