    gentoo - portage


    I have a p roblem with getting some of the programs listed in the gentoo cvs , I would really like to know how i can get portage to fetch and install xcdroast
    caan anyone help me with this ?

    run...
    Code:
    emerge sync
    ...to update your list of packages in portage, then:
    Code:
    emerge xcdroast
    to install it.
    that should install it for you

    Is there a difference between
    Code:
    emerge sync
    and
    Code:
    emerge --sync
    ?

    it doesn't look like it when i ran them both...

    i never really thought about it...i always just used emerge sync.
