mmm.. beef jerky.. I recall the thing that helped me get through my first Gentoo install and that was a (prescribed) cough medicine when I had a bad case of the flu and I was out of school for a solid week and I was bored, I dunno how I pulled it off, I was a newb, drugged, and snapping in and out of reality
Did you compile your kernel? If you did then make sure that you put in support for your ethernet card, that was my solution when I spent a week wondering why my internet wasn't working when my /etc/resolv.conf was perfect and everything seemed to be in order with dhcpcd. Check out your kernel config, devices, Networking, 10 or 100 (depends), choose your card. Good luck, for Gentoo is miserable without the internet.Registered Linux user #393103
