    As long as you compile in support for everything, you should be alright. However, I don't know if they've unmasked 2.6.14 yet...

    If you want the 2.6.14 kernel you'll have to grab it from http://www.kernel.org and install it yourself...though it will not contain the patches gentoo adds to the vanilla kernel (such as the neat ones for bootsplash).
