    gentoo would not boot after installation


    after choosing gentoo from the boot loader which is lilo gentoo loads but then stops half way.My video card is sis 630 and this is where it stops:

    it stops here!!!
    I used genkernel for auto configuration.is it something to do with the video card or what?Any ideas people?i expected it to work cause i used genkernel not manual configuration

    Well, it seems that your card has some interesting points to begin with. First of all, here is an (older) site that deals with Sis based GAs and Linux:

    However, this post from the Gentoo forums suggests that SISfb is no longer needed. So, my question to you is:

    Do you have all the requisite VESAfb references in your LILO config file?
