    Gateway Solo 9300



    i installed gentoo on a gateway solo 9300 with genkernel and stage 3. starting up from the disk went well. after rebooting everything appeared to be going well grub appeared with the splash screen perfectly and then it proceded to display the startup script and finally it started showing the pengiun to show the startup and checks. it didn't go well the screen started white from the bottom and faded to black at the top. not only this but the screen was subdivided much like a tic tac toe board and made everything very confusing and unreadable.

    all went well with the subdivided screen and it proceded to boot up to the login and asked for username and password so i entered it thinking maybe it will fix itself, but it didn't. I have absolutely no clue how to fix this could anyone possibly help me out?

    you probally need to configure X.Edit /etc/x11/xorg.conf by using nano or

    not using an x11

    i don't have anything installed except what was off the gentoo universal install cd in other words no X11 its just trying to boot into the console and it won't even do that without getting the messed up screen i'll take a picture of my laptop and post it
