Yes, it's really imporant not to rush or skip or whatsoever. For my 366MHz server, install took completely one week to finish. Now this server is running well, but I won't possibly do the install again for this machine. Still, keep on trying. When I started to use linux, I tried many distros with my "test machine" where I installed distros, tweaked them and when I got experience with one I removed it and installed another. Lastly I end up with Gentoo for desktops (or even this laptop I use daily runs Gentoo), and for servers Debian is great. For friends etc. I suggest Ubuntu. Also I have used OpenBSD and tested FreeBSD. If I only had one computer more, I would do this test again. Arch and others claim to be tested
