    Can't emerge Open Office

I need Open Office for a project in my history class, when I try to emerge it with Kuroo, it starts downloading the other prerequisite packages and then stops when it gets to "app-shells/tcsh" it just stops, it says it's working but doesn't do anything. Any help is appreciated.

    Instead of
    Code:
    emerge openoffice
    You can try
    Code:
    emerge openoffice-bin
If you still want to compile it from source, then check out this thread:

I would try emerging from the command line that way you can see the exact error that is posted when the build fails. I've never used kuroo but I'm assuming that like most GUI's it hides important messages from you unless you checkout a log.

if you still can't figure it out from the error message post the error message here and check out bugzilla for any new bugs on the program. Might also help to post emerge --info if you have any crazy CFLAGS set up.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

also, if it keeps happening at tcsh then run a simple

    emerge app-shells/tcsh

    then emerge openoffice...
    Operating System: GNU Emacs

Long ago I faced this problem. When I executed this
    Code:
    emerge openoffice
the code stalled my comp during compilation. Then somebody suggested me that I should emerge openoffice-bin. And that worked out. I suggest this problem should be archived, its too common.
