try using -nuDav (nuD is recommended by the gentoo team) and you'll be able to view the USEflags. the nuD should at least get it to compile.
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

Or, if you think you are missing libs, run a
To see what you need. When that is finished, remove the -p and let it rebuild what it wants.Code:revdep-rebuild -p
If you still have compile errors, then try to compile the gst-plugins package again. Sometimes when compiles fail (on my machine anyway) just try a couple more times, and it will complete depending on if you have ccache, distcc, confcache, or some other options enabled.
And yes, if I am updating, I always do a -avuDN world.
--ask --verbose --update --Deep --Newuse
That way it updates all dependencies and your whole system will stay updated.

Calculating dependencies -
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=media-libs/libextractor-0.5.0".
revdep-rebuild failed to emerge all packages
you have the following choices:
- if emerge failed during the build, fix the problems and re-run revdep-rebuild
or
- use -X or --package-names as first argument (trys to rebuild package, not exact
ebuild)
or
- set ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~<your platform>" and/or /etc/portage/package.unmask
(and remove /root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order to be evaluated again)
or
- modify the above emerge command and run it manually
or
- compile or unmerge unsatisfied packages manually, remove temporary files and
try again (you can edit package/ebuild list first)
To remove temporary files, please run:
rm /root/.revdep-rebuild*.?_*

Eww, messy.
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=media-libs/libextractor-0.5.0".
I don't see that specific version in the tree.
equery is a part of the gentoolkit package.
I would start by updating that package and see if revdep can handle the rest.Code:srishti ~ # equery l -p media-libs/libextractor [ Searching for package 'libextractor' in 'media-libs' among: ] * installed packages * Portage tree (/usr/portage) [-P-] [ ] media-libs/libextractor-0.5.14 (0)
Good Luck

Ohh, Rgarding your original error message in the first post, I found this in bugzilla.

No such element or plugin 'playbin'
And for this oneI dont know how to change CFLAGSI am using gcc-4.1.0. Changing the compilation options when emerging liboil
makes a difference.
With liboil compiled with CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe", the segmentation fault
is gone and I can emerge totem.
When liboil is compiled with CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe -frename-registers
-fweb -ftree-vectorize -mfpmath=sse -funswitch-loops -fgcse-after-reload", the
command "gst-inspect-0.10 playbin" causes a segmentation fault and totem cannot
be emerged.

I would try to fix the revdep-rebuild problem before anything else.
Make sure and sync your portage tree before anything though. If you have a problem while emerging, then when if faults out, run an emerge --resume --skipfirst. That will allow it to continue installing until it finishes. Then run your revdep-rebuild.
