    # emerge --search gcj
    Code:
    # emerge --search gcj

What is gcj? Please advise how to fix this problem. TIA

gcj is the GNU Java compiler Look at this page for more info

About the problem, I think gcc comes with gcj and all such tools and there is no special ebuild for gcj. Hence try this:
    Code:
    emerge sys-devel/gcc
    Good luck.

    Hi apoorv_khurasia,

    Tks for your advice.

    Hence try this:
    Code:
    emerge sys-devel/gcc
    # emerge -pv sys-devel/gcc
    # emerge -av sys-devel/gcc

    Installation went through w/o complaint.

    # emerge -av pdftk
    Code:

You have to emerge gcc with the "gcj" use flag enabled.

    Code:
    echo "sys-devel/gcc gcj" >> /etc/portage/package.use
    Then
    Code:
    emerge -avuDN world
    or
    Code:
    emerge -avuN gcc
