lilo kernel panic pls help i am n00b
what do i have to post to fix the problem with the kernel panic ? and can i access these files from windows that i need to post, because i am on windows.... also, my unknown-block says (1,0), not (0,0) .... =\
i use reiserfs , and genkernel
lilo.conf is as:
boot=/dev/hda
prompt
timeout=50
default=gentoo
image=/boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.17-gentoo-r8
label=gentoo
read-only
root=/dev/ram0
append="init=/linuxrc ramdisk=8192 real_root=/dev/hda8 udev"
initrd=/boot/initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.17-gentoo-r8
other=/dev/hda1
label=windows

heres some more info:
my linux setup is like this
partition 6 = boot
partition 7 = swap
partition 8 = root

ok so far i have made one of my own changes, i have changed the top of my lilo.conf line to:
boot=/dev/hda6
because partition 6 is my boot partition , then i stopped getting the unknown block (1,0) error, now i get the unknown block ( 3 , 8 ) error.. like everyone else in this forum, and as far as i can tell, i'm sure i've enabled all the needed support because genkernel does that, and also i've checked... but if anyone wants me to check again or list anything that specific commands will show... i will gladly do so, pls help.....

I really don't know about lilo, but in grub you have to change some things if you use genkernel. I can post grub's menu.list if you want, though I doubt that will help.
