    what do i have to post to fix the problem with the kernel panic ? and can i access these files from windows that i need to post, because i am on windows.... also, my unknown-block says (1,0), not (0,0) .... =\

    i use reiserfs , and genkernel

    lilo.conf is as:

    boot=/dev/hda
    prompt
    timeout=50
    default=gentoo

    image=/boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.17-gentoo-r8

    read-only
    root=/dev/ram0
    append="init=/linuxrc ramdisk=8192 real_root=/dev/hda8 udev"

    ok so far i have made one of my own changes, i have changed the top of my lilo.conf line to:

    boot=/dev/hda6

    because partition 6 is my boot partition , then i stopped getting the unknown block (1,0) error, now i get the unknown block ( 3 , 8 ) error.. like everyone else in this forum, and as far as i can tell, i'm sure i've enabled all the needed support because genkernel does that, and also i've checked... but if anyone wants me to check again or list anything that specific commands will show... i will gladly do so, pls help.....

    I really don't know about lilo, but in grub you have to change some things if you use genkernel. I can post grub's menu.list if you want, though I doubt that will help.
