i m reinstalling gentoo right now.
i ve found some bugs in text installer but i dont worry about that.I hate only one thing>when some packages cannot be emerged and installer doesnt install anything else.It just gives you err. ex. "package lalala cannot be installed" and terminal closes...
is there anything like debbuger which would just skip broken package, and terminal wont close?

The installers are buggy, everyone knows this. My best advice would be to use the handbook and do the install manually. That is the best way to get it done, and it isn't buggy.

- 10-25-2006 #5Manual installation is the traditional method of installing gentoo. The auto-installer is really new, and, by most reports, is still very buggy.

The gentoo handbook is (in my experience) extremely good. If you stick by it, and follow the instructions word for word, you are (almost) guaranteed to have a fully functional gentoo system by the end of the installation.

The first time I spent about 5 hours emerging everything I wanted.

Don't PM me with questions, instead post in the forums
- 10-26-2006 #10When I did it I decided to emerge OpenOffice (not the pre-compiled binaries). Now THAT took a LOOOOOONG time!!!
