im a complete noob at installing gentoo, i downloaded this version-
install-alpha-universal-2006.1
its 378 MB on my computer, but im installing gentoo on my dell, wich has a locked version ...

Downloaded Gentoo Linux, NEED HELP!!!
im a complete noob at installing gentoo, i downloaded this version-
install-alpha-universal-2006.1
its 378 MB on my computer, but im installing gentoo on my dell, wich has a locked version of xp on it. i have the .iso, but i need it to run from the cd. I really need help please!

Have you installed any other distro before?? Have you checked the networkless instructions in gentoo's web page?

when i say that im a noob to linux, i mean IM A NOOB. i have no idea what to do... i just downloaded the .iso and from there, im lost

If you are noob get as far as possible from gentoo for a WHILE, it's a highly advanced distro. Try an easier distro like Fedora, Ubuntu, SuSE, Mandriva, etc.
