I'm trying to change the login window look. but when i launch gdmsetup i get this

gdm login window no go
I'm trying to change the login window look. but when i launch gdmsetup i get this
Not sure what to do here, should i try reinstalling it.localhost tronica # gdmsetup

weird! I suggest you make sure the configuration file exists first. If it does, make sure you have permissions to access it. You may also try:
the solution must be something similar to this because the error is about accessing the file. I hope this may help!localhost tronica # sudo gdmsetup

he is alredy logged in as root
we can se that because of the pound sign (#)

Try doing it from GDM instead of inside gnome. This is a security feature in some distros.

Has any1 resolved this issue,I am getting the error on Gentoo ,
As well as not being able to login to gnome,I can only use kde with kdm,StartX has no effect with gnome-session.Code:gdmsetup Failed to connect to socket, sleep 1 second and retry Trying failed command again.
