    noooo. i dont want gentoo's grub (i alredy have one ).I just want to change splash screen...

    Thats pretty easy.... You do that by gimp save the image (keep its resolution same as your existing splash.xpm) as an xpm and then gunzip it. I didn't quite catch your problem here...

    well i tryed using gimp but that failed....

    now i just want link from where i can download splash.xpm.gz.
    thats all....

    The file is really a tar/bzip2 but the forum doesn't accept this extension, I renamed it to zip
