you ask 2 questions, one about the modem and another about the wifi.

    One: yr modem is

00:14.6 Modem: ATI Technologies Inc ATI SB400 - AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 02)

using google "ati sb400 linux" I found

    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=500990

    from which I quote:

    > 1) Load module snd_atiixp_modem (after made it)
    > 2) The modem is a smartlink modem. With gentoo,
    > emerge the ebuild "slmodem" and run ist within
    > init. Now you have /dev/modem (points to /dev/ttySL0).
    > With debian use slmodem-daemon and maybe
    > slmodem-source.
    >3) Use /dev/modem

Two: about the wifi: suggest you read the sticky in our "wireless internet" forum: it is very good.
