Just because you use a distribution, doesn't mean everyone uses the same one.
There is no need to login to the GUI as root!

I just installed Gentoo x86-64 and that seemed to fix alot of problems like stability and all kinds of emerge errors....

That is why I like sticking with the base distro of Gentoo. The derivatives always differ in such a way that makes them not completely compatible with the official portage tree, and therefor easier to break.
