    ALSA issues in kernel configuration

Hi all, new to Gentoo. I have started to follow the ALSA guide here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml . I have gotten to where I am supposed to enable my sound card with genkernel. I have looked through all of the menus and cannot find PCI devices ----> so I cannot enable my card. I know i have VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller.

Is there another way to do this or some sort of work around? Thanks!

Have you tied manually building your kernel, instead of genkernel?
I am new to gentoo myself, but I have built a few kernels in my time and it's not really that hard.

Haven't tried it, good suggestion. I'm gonna read up and if it's not too hard give it a shot.
