Well, ladies and mostly gentleman, I have a question for you. In my brilliance I decided not to take my monitor home from college, and just use the one I have at home. The maximum resolution supported by my monior at college - 1600x1200. The maximum at home? A mere 1280x1024. So, now when I start KDE it tries to run at 1600x1200 on a monitor that only supports 1280x1024. I get nothing but a blank screen. I edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf to no longer include "1600x1200" as a mode under the monitors subsection, but still a no go. Any help would be wonderfully terrific.
depending on your system, xorg.conf could be a simple -> pointer to XF86Config file... change it in there as well and see how it goes.... make sure you remove the "virtual" section
You should have a file like /etc/X11/xorg.conf
In there under "Screen" you should have a:
or something similar. Change it there.
