Just curious to see what version of GCC everyone is using. I just upgraded to 4.0.2, and will be upgrading to 4.1 when it become stable enough to use.

Last I was using Gentoo, I used 4.1
the gentoo forums (forums.gentoo.org) has a lot of information on how to get it to work reasonably well (still some programs with problems...and many that you need to tweak, but you can get it working) :)
I know that gcc is out up to the 4.*'s, but I'm sticking with the stable x86 branch, so 3.4.
See no reason to use a compiler that has problems.
Why fix what isn't broken? 3.4 is on my box.
I apparently still have 3.3.5 and right now don't see why I need to update since everything is working great. But welcome any opinions otherwhise as to why I should update. Good poll though this is an interesting topic I wouldn't ordinarily think about.
I'm using 3.4.3 right now, just a stock LFS build. Waiting for 4.1 to be released, then I will rebuild with it.

You should try 4.0.*. I have noticed a large decrease in compile times, and it seems that it makes faster binaries.Quote:

The dev of the project already has a couple of projects out testing both 4.0 and 4.1 (?) - I might upgrade, but only after I am satisfied with everything.
