Digests do not match

I tried emerging kdebase, xchat, and KMuddy and I got this error

!!! File is corrupt or incomplete. (Digests do not match)

!!! File does not exist: /usr/portage/distfiles//packagename

Anyone have a clue why this is happening?

either the rsync mirror is borked or you have a corrupt tarball.... usually i delete /usr/portage/distfiles/<package>* and /usr/portage/<category>/<package>/files/digest*

then run:

then try the merge again

Eh?

when you run the command 'emerge sync' you synchronize a local database (ok, not a database, but a listing) to a remote one via the rsync protocol. basicaly if the server you are syncing with has a damaged list and collection of ebuilds, then it would be considered 'borked' (ie not working)
