When I create the file system on /dev/sda3 it gives me an error:
Squashfs error: cannot read block then number of block
Why is it doing this? Using command out of book mke2fs -j /dev/sda3.

The CD you burned is bad.
Bad CD or bad CD drive. Most of the older drives were produced before ISO yellow book CDR was available, so some burns will work while others will not.
Did you check the md5sum of the .iso image before you burned it to a cd? Did you burn at a slow speed to help prevent write errors?
That's correct. CD and CDR are different medias with different specs, despite they look similar. An older CD drive may read a CDR as it was CD and fail.
