I'm 90% certain that this is the kernel I use (I'm not at my computer right now). What error do you get? I mean, does it compile, then not want to boot, or does it not compile at all?
it compiles without giving any errors and since I have had compiled all the previous versions myself I choose almost the same options here too. I have almost tried every combination, tried removing some features which were new but every time I get this error: kernel panic saying something like that the bzImage is not valid.
2.6.16-r9 is working all fine. Well last night I checked out the site and saw that r8 is up for 2.6.17 so will try tonight and see if that one works.
I used it a while back. It compiled and worked alright on my system. Try doing "make clean" and then recompiling it.
So finally tried r8 and got success just now. I will continue to see what's the trouble with r7. Since its working fine with most of you I see no reason why it should create troubles with me. It might be that I am doing something wrong.
Thanks for the help.
I found nothing unusual with this kernel versionCode:$ sudo uname -a
Linux evo 2.6.17-gentoo-r7 #4 PREEMPT Thu Sep 21 15:49:57 EDT 2006 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1066MHz GNU/Linux
