need help with wireless
I'm a linux and gentoo newbie..... i need to configure my wireless card which is a "Broadcom 802.11a/b/g WLAN".... my laptop...an HP 6515b has a sensor to activate it......it doesnt lighten up when i try to switch it on.
Please tell me what changes i should make to my kernel and the steps i should follow in order to get it working.....
I've had nothing but trouble with all the Broadcom chips I have ever used with Linux and the reverse-engineered kernel drivers.
I'd suggest just using ndiswrapper and the Windows drivers; It's worked for me for years.
Make sure that you have the bcm43xx module in the kernel.
If that doesn't work you should just do as Scratch_ suggests.
I have a broadcomm chip in my laptop, and only Sabayon and Mepis 6.5+ have been able to configure it correctly.
I third ndiswrapper. I use a Hawking PCMCIA with the broadcom chipset in an old HP laptop with ndiswrapper and it runs perfectly. Has for years now...
