I've got a question about net-snmp:
The net-snmp documentation says that you can send traps using the snmptrap command, but that normally traps are sent by a snmpagent. Snmpd is an snmp agent and listens to snmpget requests. Does it also send traps?!
I'm kind of lost here. Pls help.
Even i am very new to snmp, according to my knowledge goes, snmptrap is the demon which will be running on the Manager and will be waiting for the traps to be received from the snmp agents.
snmpd is a demon running on the snmp client, which we will call as the snmpagent and will service the requests such as snmpget,snmpset...and it is used to send the notifications such as snmptrap and snmpinform to the SNMP manger
Thank you. I think you are right about it.
