Random Kernel Panic

I have Gentoo Linux installed on a system with an AMD k6-2 400 processor, 128 MB of RAM, and a 20GB hard drive. I get random kernel panics for some reason. Usually they are when I am doing a lot of stuff in KDE and when building packages in CLI mode. I get several kernel panics a day and I have no idea where they are coming from. I have tried different kernel versions too. Does anyone know of a reason why it would be crashing so much? I don't think it is an issue with the CPU or any chipsets overheating.
