[SOLVED] Quick kernel upgrade question

Hi,
So, I'm upgrading to kernel version 2.6.31-gentoo-r6 from 2.6.30-gentoo-r5.
In menuconfig for the old kernel, I saved an Alternate Configuration File.
Can I use that configuration file for the new kernel, or do I need to start from scratch every time? I know that I can use it, but should I use it?
