Upgrading Samba/LDAP on a Gentoo Domain Controller
Hi. Currently, I have a gentoo server RUNNING 2.6.24-gentoo-r7 x86_64. It's serving as a Domain Controller and has Samba File sharing / LDAP. We can't join our windows 2008 r2 server to the gentoo domain it shows an error saying its unable to join. We are able to ping the domain. Windows XP machines are able to join the domain.
Current Samba version is 3.0.33. I'm assuming that's a bit old.
And Ldap 2.4.24. P.S. Webmin is also installed from where we manage LDAP users.
We want to upgrade samba to 3.2 or 3.5 so that our windows 2008 server can join the domain.
I'm assuming upgrading samba may change some things.
Can someone tell me whether upgrading will require me to reconfigure things or no? Also, do I need to upgrade LDAP?
I would really appreciate if someone can give me the list of commands or perhaps a guide to follow so that I don't break the live samba server. :)
