Hi. I've got an older desktop computer (nearing, if not past, the decade mark), and I'm hoping to install gentoo on it, hoping that gentoo's ability to mold to a computer will make it work better. It's currently running functionally on Fedora Core 3, but I'm hoping it'll run a little better on Gentoo. Can anyone tell me how to find out which version of Gentoo would be best, and where to start?
as I understand it, gentoo doesn't really have versions, they have releases. As soon as you update your software, all gentoo's are the same (version wise) I'd just go with the latest, unless you have a specific reason not to.
Exactly, it's called a rolling release. I think CRUX and Arch Linux are the same too.
