    Something else must need to be changed because I tried putting a downsized photo onto my website but it did not happen.

    I did some perusal of the GIMP on-line manual and learned how to crop the digital picture which now appears on my website.

    If you know you are going to take pictures for your web site with your digital camera, you can usually change it's resolution settings so that it is not using the full capability of the device, resulting in decent pictures that won't require post-production tweaking.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
