Gimp is a photo editor. It works with raster images. It is very much like Adobe Photoshop.
Both Corel Draw and Adobe Ilsutraror or vector drawinf programs that are for creating editable, vector based drawings. That said there is some overlap of functions
May I answer your question with a question? What exactly is it you want to do? THe more detail you can give the better advice others can offer.
I work with vector art all the time. And I was looking for somethng comparable. To Adobe Illustrator, is there such a thing for Linux? I never used Gimp before but I wanted to give it a try.
Hvae you tried Inkscape? I believe it is a vector program;

I havent tried it. But I went to their website and its pretty cool. I dont know if its as powerful as Adobe but I may be close to it. Thanks for the info.
I think the OpenOffice.org Draw is pretty similar, although I'm not sure.
The GIMP isn't really comparable to Illustrator and Corel Draw, it's for more like Photoshop.
i would definately stay stick with CorelDRAW... they work wonders with interface :D
Photoshop for me, just run it in crossover.

You need to purchase CrossOver Office.
