Sound problems with mandrake 10
Mandrake 10 on a Dell D800 laptop. Internal soundcard on the Dell is SIGMATEL STAC 9750 AC97.
When linux is booting and activates the ALSA (mixer settings or whatever its called) my speakers start producing a lot of feedback and sound like they are about to blow. Can anyone advise?
thanks

Is it true feedback or is it just noise?

found the fix. Had to lower volume . ASLA apparently makes volume for laptops too high by default.
thanks
