Installing a SATA DVD drive
However, now I am left with no optical drive. sda (500GB SATA II hard drive) is detected but sdb is not.
I have the same model (Asus DRW-1814BLT) of drive in another machine working without any problems (Asus P5N32-SLI SE DELUXE motherboard) also running Lenny if that is of any help for looking up information or whatever.
As I posted in the other thread, selecting AHCI or Linux AHCI in BIOS stops the drive from being detected at all. It seems only the "IDE" setting allows it to be detected.
How can I get my drive detected and working?
