installing an external hard drive
Hello,
I work in a lab where we run different distributions of Linux on 4 different machines (2 Red Hat, 2 SUSE). I am not sure why it is set up like this but I am fairly new so I am not in a position to make dramatic changes.... especially because I barely know what I am doing.
Anyways, I want to buy an external hard drive that will be compatible with all the computers. Do I need any particular type or will any work? Also, what do I need to set up the drive? In the past, I managed (with some detailed instructions) to install a new hard drive in one of the machines so I have some (limited) familiarity with the concepts of setting up a filesystem type and mounting the drive using fstab.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
