Hi there,
See if you have set the rights properly, and that the relevant files are executable.
It looks like „Kaffeine“ is not completely installed.
There is a problem with executable files, it seems.
I would try to get „Kaffeine“ working without the tv-card, at first, with help from MPlayer and additional software.
Use the apt-get tool to get a update of your OS.
If you have „Xine“, and want to play copy protected discs, you have to instal libdvdcss.
I understand, that „Kaffeine“ is a front end of „Xine“, and that „Kaffeine“ uses a lot of resources.
I understand also, that your issue/subject is about playing DVD's, etc.
You might want to also install VideoLAN by typing „apt-get install vlc“.
You could try out „Microsoft Media Player on Linux“, „SHOUT cast broadcasts“, or „Real Player“, etc.
These are only a few hints: The idea is to have it working by one of these applications, and then after try to get „Kaffeine“ running via your new tv-card.
Try something out, and let me know. I know, I just gave you a „tutti frutti“ of hints, but it might nevertheless be of some help. That is the best I can do for now.
In the meantime, you could go into the Internet, and watch the videos from „blips.tv“: You should be able to receive it, and I bet you will be quite happy with watching it, for the moment, in the meantime.
Best regards,
Alexander

Hi,
Thanks v.much for your quick reply.
I am able to watch DVD's with no problem. I am new to Linux & Ubuntu and don't quite how to watch TV (Freeview) via a digital TV card. How do i go about using apt-get?
I have installed Mplayer and it is able to play DVD's along with VLC.
I have run Kaffeine after logging in as root but still no luck. I have also reinstalled the operating system & software several times with no luck.

Hi Chris.
"apt-get" plus the software name, you type into "Run Command".
About your "Kaffeein": I suggest that you get it running without the tv-card involved.
After that, you should be able to use it with your tv-card, if that is what I understood, is what you are trying to achieve.
