    Problem with my dvd player


    yesterday i discovered that my laptop (an hp compaq nx7400) can't play dvd's. i cant understand what could happen. some days ago there was no problem. now i can't see any dvd movies. it seems that my laptop wont recognize dvd hardware any more (if thats possible)

    Which Linux distro do you have?
    Execute this
    Code:
    hdparm -I /dev/dvd
    Does it display correct info of DVD?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Something is wrong with DVD hardware only. Check cables and try it on other machine.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
