    CD Drive, halfway working



    I've just installed Mandrake 10 and I am having a hard time making the cd drive work correctly. It does not recognize CDs. The drive makes sounds like it is working but it never is able to read the CDs. I have a NEC ND-5100A and am trying to find a driver specific for it. Does anybody know where to find this driver, or have any other troubleshooting hints?

    what are you trying to read from the cd?
    is it a music cd or some sort of data cd or maybe an install cd?

    have you tried manually mounting it?
    type this from a command line.

    Code:
    mount /mnt/cdrom
    (/mnt/cdrom might be different, but that is the default if you have 1 cdrom drive in mandrake 10)
