usb dvd/rw need drivers?
hi there.
I just want to check to see if any special drivers would be needed to run a usb (2.0) or firewire dvd/rw drive.
Not sure which drive i will be going with, but as i understand it, generic drivers should work just fine and dandy as long as the kernel was compiled with usb or firewire support.
Am i correct in this thinking or will i need to look for specific drivers?
Thanks

i think that you don't need drivers in most of the cases..although many devices (firewire especially)may need drivers provided by the vendor of the device..so i would suggest you to check at the official site of the device vendor for available drivers first(if they exist)
