Driver - HP Deskjet 5740 USB printer

Hi folks,


Ubuntu 7.04 server amd64
HP Deskjet 5740 USB


I'm installing the said printer on this server for printing with command lines. Since this is a server only few GUI/X packages/softwae have been installed. I only print occasionally.


I'm aware the bundle of HP drivers are on hpijs/hplip which are available on Ubuntu repository. I only need the driver for the captioned printer and don't expect installing all drivers on repo.


Please advise where I can download the driver for the said printer on Internet.

The Ubuntu Hardware Support Wiki says this is fully supported. Find the 5740 on this list and follow the directions.

the package "hpijs" is on Ubuntu repo. I haven't installed it because it is a bundle of drivers.


I'm considering to install this package. After having the printer set up on CUPS remove it to see whether HP Deskjet 5740 can work or NOT.
