    SuperMicro SC-743 LSI 1086 and Fedora 9 won't see disk


    Hello,
    Does anyone know what I have to do to get my new SuperMicro SC-743 to see its SAS disk RAID0 Virtual Disk?

    I'd like to use Linux software raid but I don't know/can't see how to configure the box. It doesn't seem to have an option to not run with LSI RAID.

    Given that, what driver should I be trying? Or/And what /dev device names would I expect to see? Or what major and minors do I need?

    I've downloaded/compiled 2.6.25.5 but, so far, to no avail. The 'LSI Logic New Generation RAID Device Drivers' MEGARAID_NEWGEN seems most likely but doesn't list the SuperMicro LSI in the MEGARAID_MAILBOX supported devices.

    I, in a rush, put RHEL4.4 on the box using the megasr driver from SuperMicro:

    ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/SAS/...32_RedHat4.zip

    which may have seen the RAID as /dev/sda but as I'd added 'dd' to the install with no install server setup I didn't get any further.

    I want to run with Fedora9 as this is my desktop machine.

    An update, errors and 'supported on Linux' trap!!!

    which may have seen the RAID as /dev/sda but as I'd added 'dd' to the install with no install server setup I didn't get any further.

    I want to run with Fedora9 as this is my desktop machine.

    It looks like, unless there's been an update to the situation, I've fallen into a 'supported on Linux' trap. The motherboard has a 1068E LSI chipset which requires a proprietary driver along the lines of:
