[SOLVED] /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd file missing.
Hi
I'm not able to mount my cdrom and dvdrom because the assosciate file which situated in /dev (hdc and hdd) are missing. So could you guide me how to regenerate these mention file in /dev again. Before i was able to mount my drives but somehow it is deleted from /dev mistakly. I'm using RHEL5.

Post the contents of /etc/fstab file. Whats the output of this :

hdparm -I /dev/cdrom/code]?It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I found the Root cause

I found the root cause actually problem was in IDE cable. I changed the cable and problem has rectified now.
