    SATA HDD not detected

I have Samsung Laptop model number SQ45S&OS. I 160GB sata HDD and created two partition of NTFS and installed Windows XP in c drive. Now i wanna install linux on the other partition. Once I booted my system on Fedora 6, it did not detect the hard disk. I have also checked my bios but there is no such option like related to IDE or SATA, though it displays that my laptop has 160GB sata drive.

Any suggestions how my system could detect my sata HDD and also does Fedora 6 support sata HDD.

Fedora 6 is not supported by Fedora Team now and you wont get any updates. I would suggest you to install latest version, Fedora 9.

If you want to install Fedora 6 only, try linux all-generic-ide at boot: prompt.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
