the zune media player

im planning on buying a zune in like a month or so.
i know the zune software needs windows but can the zune drag and drop files? or does it NEED to be synced with the zune software?

ive pretty much made up my mind about getting a zune, preferrably the 16gb once its out and getting it laser engraved (https://zuneoriginals.net/)
i just need to know whether or not im gonna need my brothers computer for adding music and videos haha

That entirely depends if it's based on a proper filesystem, or it's based on a drm'd database or a similar mechanism.

If it's based on DRM and propietary closed technology, I would just not buy it. There are lots of open alternatives, why buy something you can't use with your OS of choice when there are alternatives?

because to me the alternatives aren't that cool,
ive searched for other players before but none of them stand out as awesome to me.

Then you are probably bound to depend on the MS OS.

I googled a bit and it seems that there're some efforts to achieve this, however I found nothing conclusive. It seems that Amarok should be able to at least list files from your zune, however I don't know if it can upload/download files from it.
